April Youth Events

During the next month, the youth of our church have two significant ways they will be serving our church. First, the mission teams will be hosting an All-Church Talent Show on April 9th—that’s an evening you won’t want to miss! And then many youth are involved in leading worship on Sunday, April 24th. There are still lots of ways to get involved.

Also, our church will be visited by many other youth for the District Youth Rally on Saturday, April 30. We encourage all senior high students and any junior high students not on the Youth Quake trip to enjoy this afternoon with Christian comedians, Mad Dogs and Englishmen.

YOUTH QUAKE DETAILS

On Friday, April 29, a group of 12 Junior High Students and 4 adult leaders will head down to Parsippany, NJ to stay at the Hilton and take part in the 2005 Jersey Quake. We’ll meet and worship with 300 youth from other churches, and enjoy learning more about what it means to be a Christian from a great youth speaker. To prepare for this special retreat, the junior high youth will have a special meeting on April 17th. There’s a Talent Show on Saturday afternoon, so youth can think about bringing their ACTS south to a wider audience.

District Youth Rally

With comedians “Mad Dogs and Englishmen”

Saturday, April 30, 1:30 – 3:30 pm at our very own PUMC!

Our church has the honor of hosting this district-wide youth event. Invite friends from outside our church: these comedians will make you laugh ‘til it hurts!

Do you love God? Do you love students? As Pastor Rebecca prepares to go on maternity leave in July, we are looking to augment our adult youth ministry team. Involvement could range from weekly to bi-monthly. We can use lots of different gifts: cooking, music, leading discussions, running games, emergency chaperones, etc. If you are interested, speak with Pastor Rebecca to visit a youth meeting and see what might be the best fit for you.

Summer Mission Team News

We will continue our team meetings in April, learning more about each other and planning for the mission trips. Up-coming meeting dates:

·        M-Fuge will meet on Wednesday, April 20, 7 – 8:30 pm

·        Mexico Outreach will meet on Sunday, April 10, 4 – 6 pm

Fund-Raisers:

The ACTS of the Disciples (All-Church Talent Show) is coming up on Saturday, April 10. There are a number of ways for mission team members to be involved in hosting this festive event.

·        Prepare and donate lovely scrumptious desserts.

·        Make centerpieces for the tables.

·        Help sell tickets in advance, both in church and to outside friends.

·        Help decorate on Saturday, April 9th, and serve at the Talent Show.

Mission Support Letters: should be sent out to friends and family by the beginning of April, so that we can receive responses by the end of the month.

M-Fuge service opportunities to help team members prepare for summer missions include serving at the Homeless Shelter on Saturdays May 21 and June 25, or helping to tutor at Tubman Terrace in May and June.

Important Note: Mexico Outreach team members without U.S. Passports MUST begin the process of getting them in April.
