“What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have

faith but has no deeds? Can such a faith save him?” James 2:14

The stores are already packed with candy hearts and sweet little teddy bears. We celebrate romantic love this month, but what a perfect time to show that God’s love goes far deeper. There are of great opportunities throughout this month for the youth of our church to follow Jesus with their actions as they participate in works of service to benefit others.

The Valentine’s Dinner Dance on Saturday, February 11 is a church-wide service project to benefit a family in medical need. This year we will be supporting one of our own youth, Tyler Carroll and his family, by helping to serve the meal and by providing childcare.

On Sunday, February 12, we will take the opportunity to support the Kairos Prison Ministry. Four men in our congregation are part of a team that is facilitating a Christian retreat at Coxsackie Correctional Facility in the beginning of March. Of course, we can’t take our youth group to prison☺, but we can send our love to the prisoners in some tangible ways. We’ll make posters, placemats and cookies for our Christian brothers on the inside.

The Senior High Youth have a fantastic opportunity to put their faith into action on Saturday, February 25 through the Midnight Run. A group from our church will take clothes, food and comfort to the homeless of New York City on this overnight adventure. Midnight Run will be our official Senior High meeting for that week, but we only have spots for 9 youth, so sign up ASAP to secure your place on this trip!
