FLEA MARKET: The PUMC Youth will be hosting a flea market on Saturday, June 5th. You can support us in several ways:

  • We still need youth to volunteer to work the flea market.
  • Donations will be collected through Friday, June 4th in the fellowship hall.
  • We welcome bake sale items (marked for the flea market), labeled if they contain nuts. Drop them off at the church Weds through Saturday.
  • Stop by to browse, enjoy a simple breakfast or lunch with us at the Flea Market Café, and help send our youth on their two summer mission trips.

Do you know any graduates? We would like to recognize all high school and college graduates on Sunday, June 20th. If you, your son or daughter, or someone else connected with the church is graduating this spring, please inform the Church Secretary (452-2933) so that we can celebrate with them.

THANK YOU to all the generous people who worked so hard to support and encourage the youth as they prepared the youth service: Dave Carrier, our sound technician; Anne Ciraulo, our music coach; Paul Mosley; and our wonderful youth leaders: Dawn, Curtis, Patty, John, Jeff, Bob & Darrell.

OUR CHURCH IS ON A MISSION

Our local mission team, consisting of 10 youth and 3 adults, will be in Philadelphia from July 3-9. They will participate in the M-Fuge work camp repairing homes, working with children, and supporting other urban ministries. On June 27th, we will commission them to go out on our behalf during the morning service.

The Mexico Outreach team will be serving in Ensenada, Mexico, from July 30-August 7. Seven youth and seven adults are preparing to team up with a local church in Mexico to offer vacation bible school to Mexican children and ministry to adults. This team will be commissioned and sent out by the church on July 25th.

PLEASE PRAY for these mission teams:

§         that they grow together as Christian families as they prepare to go

§         that God would provide all the funds needed

§         that they would be faithful witnesses of Christ as they serve

§         that their faith will grow and be strengthened

§         that they would have safe travel

§         that the team leaders and chaperones might have wisdom and endurance

§         that a second translator might join the Mexico Outreach team

Pastor Rebecca will be leading a prayer meeting during the 9:30 fellowship hour on June 27th, July 4th, July 18th and July 25th. Join her and others to lift up the missions of our church in prayer.

Dear youth of PUMC,

If you caught me with a huge smile on my face on May 16th (Youth Sunday), it was because of you! On that day, your skit spoke about how the body of Christ is made up of many people with lots of different kinds of gifts. And as a body, we need every unique and varied part, down to the last toenail. Well, that day you were living out the words you spoke. Each one of you was a beautiful, wonderful addition to the body of Christ, whether you were behind the scenes or up front. This church would be a sad place if you weren’t part of it!

Some people say that the youth are the future of the church. That’s not quite true. You ARE the church NOW! You already have so many gifts to offer: your artistic gifts, your enthusiasm, your straight-forward questions, your willingness to work longer and harder to lead us in a single act of worship than anyone else does for any other service in the entire church year. You, the younger members of our family, even helped us appreciate the older members of the family, encouraging the whole body of Christ.

Many of you were not able to be part of Youth Sunday—but that doesn’t change the fact that you are all still part of our church family. Every single one of you—from the sweetest to the wildest—brings a smile to my face when I think of you. Each of you has a special purpose in our family. I give thanks that you are my brothers and sisters! I am thrilled that so many of you decided to confirm your faith and join the church formally this year. I give thanks that I have had the chance to get to know you this year. I look forward to next year and the ways God will use the gifts he’s given you to build up our church family even more.

                                                                                    Much love in Christ,

                                                                                    Pastor Rebecca
